...What's unique? ...What's different? How is this any different than any other game? ...What's DIFFERENT? What's so special? What's so unique that some guy says that this game will be on his harddrive way after everything else fades? What's so compelling that some guy says "best game in years"? ...BUT WHAT IS SO DIFFERENT? ...What's DIFFERENT????
Simple: the experience.
I felt like an actual soldier playing through the SP game, and I feel like an actual soldier playing MP. Contrary to what you seem to think, a game doesn't have to introduce some radical new idea or have totally new weapon ideas to be good. It's one of the best gaming experiences I've had the joy of taking part in, plain and simple.

Yep, finally found one in the area that got a shipment in today-- it sounds like shipments all over this region came in a day late, for whatever reason.
I had to turn off bloom and the distance fuzz before they drove me batty, but now it feels like good ol' UT again. Looking forward to getting some play time in.

So has anyone actually found a store selling UT3 yet...?
I checked my local Target, WalMart, Best Buy, Circuit City, and EBgames and not one of them have the game in stock. There's shelf space for it, but no one seems to have actually gotten their shipment yet. Bizarre.

Bwah? "Now available", as in today? I know a couple stores listed today as the release date and most have tomorrow, but I'd be curious to see where people buy it today, if it is possible.

For me the ESC menus were worse than the nice tabbed/sectioned ones from past games (UT2k4, I think?), but you know what? I don't plan on playing the UI. I'm going to play the game. 
Apart from going in to set up settings and controls the first time, the only other thing I need is the MP browser– which worked fine for me in the demo. So... If they make updates to it, fantastic. If not, not a big deal to me.

I just noticed that UT3 has been pushed back a week to the 23rd Nov. I didn't hear anything about it but when I checked all the sites today they all reported the same thing.
Everywhere I've checked still says Tuesday– are you sure you're not just looking at a Black Friday ad or something?

I bit the bullet and reinstalled PB for this game. After a round of pbsetup, restarting, and firewalling, I finally got it to run as it should.
Wow! I've only played a couple maps but MP so far is an awesome blend of all the good stuff from both 2142 and Quake. I really like how quickly the unlocks go, too-- seems a lot better so far than the plodding unlock pace of 2142. Yummy yummy goodness.
I don't think I've had this much fun getting killed in a game in a long time.  ET:QW seemed like an odd mishmash of games that didn't quite work right. I couldn't get into TF2 (but really loved the original). This just plays... Right.

I noticed on installing that it uses the ever-so-troublesome PunkBuster... Can I still play without PB, or do all the servers require it? (I've had no end of trouble with PB crashing across several games and am loathe to use it yet again.)

Add another one to the pile... I've been playing over the weekend and absolutely love it, so much so that I told myself I'd replay it again on some of the harder settings– which I never do.
Highly recommended, at least for SP. Haven't tried MP (yet).

TF2 is a ton of fun. Otherwise, it is a 1 sided slaughter fest and is no fun. It is more difficult to pub It is a fun pub game. I still prefer DoD Source

Place me in the tentatively "uber-giddy" category! Here's to hoping it's good. Speaking of, I wonder if the Ascension folks'll ever actually release their game...
I actually just reinstalled Tribes (the original) a couple weeks ago and have been playing just about every night– it's ridiculous how perfect that game and its mods are, even a decade(ish?) later.
