I personally don't think the underlines need to be removed from inactive links, but I would like the links to have a separately-colored :hover state. Maybe change them to a slightly darker yellow or something, to help distinguish what link you're over– it would be especially helpful while mousing over the longer lists of links, for example

5. Circuit City Sep 29, 2008, 20:02 Morgan19

I absolutely hate the new "The City". We had a CC down the street from us that closed and relocated a couple miles away in a different shopping center; it recently had its grand opening as The City. CC was also fairly industrial-looking, but now it's beyond sterile. And the employee at the door, the three in each section, and seven random ones that keep following you, all asking what you're looking for, annoys the hell out of me. If I want help, I'll ask for it.

I used to like going to CC for movies on Tuesdays-- now it's just a pain the tookus fighting off their rabid staff every three seconds.

Anyone else read that headline and think a rabid fox attacked a security guard? The studio and movie, for some reason, never entered my mind until I clicked through to the actual story.

A persistently unfixable problem with PB not allowing me to connect to 90% of servers out there, despite having a perfectly clean install, was the main reason I had to give up on CoD4 despite absolutely loving the game.

Blegh.

I don't get these updates. They release a game, then incrementally update bits and pieces of it (leaving the rest currently "as is"), now want other people to do their brainstorming work for them?

It sounds like the game was 50% feature-complete when it shipped and they're trying to finish it under the guise of these "class packs".

why tease about something that every gamer on the planet knows is coming?
Even if it's more details on the WoTLK expansion.. it doesn't warrant (imho) this much teaser attention..
and I'm a huge WoW nerd saying that.

You're not thinking like a marketing team. It doesn't matter to them whether it's something you want or not: the fact that it's got people talking is PR enough. They've got people going to the page/site with the hubbub, and that's exactly the goal.

2. Re: So how.. May 8, 2008, 10:30 Morgan19

I picked it up when it first came out and played for a few weeks before deciding I didn't much like it. Since then I've reinstalled it probably three or four times, wanting to give it another chance, but always end up uninstalling it again shortly after. (To put that into perspective, I still have Tribes 1 installed and have had installs of it on my gaming computers since it first came out.)

I come from a long history of playing Tribes, Q2, UT2004, and BF2142 and yet I couldn't find anything I really liked in Quake Wars: it seems like it's trying to be BF with its classes and respawn times, Tribes with its wide-open areas, and UT/Quake with the speed and twitch factors. I love all of those elements in their respective games, but for me personally it just doesn't work all mish-mashed together in one game.

Another thing that's really bugged me is how forced or scripted each match is. Because the game goes very deliberately from area to area as objectives are completed, it really felt like each round I played in was the same as the last time I'd played it. It seems like other games' CTF or point-control modes lets you decide more how you want to approach the objective, rather than "you must be an engineer and you must blow up objective X to continue". A lot of people seem to love the focus it gives, but it just seems way too "on rails" for my taste.

To be fair, I never played the original Enermy Territory. From what I hear Quake Wars' play style is a lot like it, so I'm sure if you played the original you'd probably have a better appreciation for the new iteration.

The other thing that bugs me about the game is that matches can end way too quickly: if there are good players on the other side who know exactly what to do and what order it need to be done in, a round can start and be done in under five minutes because they've breezed through the objectives progression. That's great for them, but to me that's not fun... It's just frustrating.

So in a nutshell I wouldn't recommend it, no.

D3 was a sort of re-imagining of D1, right? I wonder if D4 will be an updated D2...
