What I wonder is will they release another new iPad early next year as typical or will they refresh it later in the year? Like the new iPhones used to come out every June/July but then they moved the release to September.

Yeah, well that is quite a high res! I better stick with 1080p max because the extra horsepower required for anything higher would be too much for me.

Wow, you have dual GTX680 cards in SLI? Is one not enough for any game to run with all graphics set to max? I got one GTX660 and it runs everything smooth as silk.

Yeah, they want people to pay for a F2P game which doesn't make sense. It looks like backing only gets you in-game credits and such.

And it's by a company called Dodo Games? I think they'll go the way of the dodo bird..

Correct me if I am wrong, but if people are buying Dishonored elsewhere, for example making use of the 20%-off GMG coupon, those sales won't show up on Steam's totals even though it's a Steamworks game. Steam's weekly numbers are for games bought through their storefront - At least I think that is the way it works.
That's correct.. Steam's top 10 only reflects sales through Steam so overall it could be in the top 10 sales if other sites and physical copies were counted.

No, I think they said only ones that had been "reformulated" to the new file format. Remember the big patches for some games which was mostly changing the file format on steam? That's one of the benefits. Plus next patches to those games should be smaller.
Hmm, that must be the problem although it seems odd that the games need an update to be installed on another drive. Also, Crysis allows me to select the drive yet Crysis 2 does not.. strange.

There is a convoluted way to get per-folder settings but I haven't tried it myself, it was detailed in a previous story but I'm sure its easily googled.

I actually prefer doing it outside of Steam anyway, I use junction points.
Yeah, I'll have to look into doing the junction thing you and Dev mentioned. Does that cause any issues when a game has an update or DLC?

I want to say the current beta allows you to specify a install folder for all games, but I'm not sure it allows you to specify per app.

I've not tried it myself, however.

What is this beta you speak of and how do I get in on that? I think I selected the option to be a beta tester in the Steam settings but I will have to make sure that's still on next time I get on.

Speaking of Steam, does anyone know how to get the option to pick the install directory of every game? For some reason it only allows me to pick the install drive on about half of my games. I thought the Steam update would let us pick where to install all Steam games!

It's stupid especially since there isn't enough disc space to install some games onto the drive that Steam is installed on yet it won't give me the option to pick another drive! Do I have to reinstall Steam onto the other drive?

Makes me sad that Dishonored isn't on this list. It's a really great and fun game.
If they sold it for $50 instead of $60 (like console games) I think it would sell better.. especially since it's a digital download. I can't justify paying that much for a SP-only game unless it's really long like Skyrim. I'll jump on it as soon as it goes on sale though..

I think they just didn't start off right. It was first called "An Old-school RPG" but then they changed to "SHAKER - Old-school RPG". Then they showed what looked to be a fantasy type image for the game but their updates showed a sci-fi character. I think an old-school sci-fi RPG would be cool but they need to be more clear about it.

I also didn't like how in the pitch video they said they would do 'two' completely different RPGs if they got enough money.. I think they should stick with one and make the one better if they get additional funding.

The track record is pretty good IMO. Sure they had a couple games that weren't the greatest but many others were. I enjoyed Planescape: Torment and the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale games and this is what PE will mostly resemble.

Yes, pessimism means you see the worst instead of the good they have done.

My major concern is that PE will end up like TOEE and other titles that the collective staff of Obsidian have had a hand in. Dumped on the market with deep bugs and very little support.
Well my pledge tier includes beta access to the game so I'll test it out and let Obsidian know of any bugs I may find. There are too many pessimistic folks around here..

I don't see a problem with them already thinking about future games in the series. If the first PE game is going to be a small part of a much larger world then it's good that they design it that way from the beginning so it can be tied in better later on.

I believe the Double Fine Adventure will be the first high-profile project to start from nothing, get funding via KS, and then go from there. In fact, their original target ship date was October (i.e. this very month), but that was for their initial goal of $400k. I understand it will take a while longer to spend those extra millions.
Yeah, I think they're shooting for May of next year now. I'm glad they're taking the time to add more content to the game though.

NKD wrote on Oct 17, 2012, 23:24:
It's not really about quality, necessarily, but rather allowing more freedom in terms of what TYPE of game you are making. This kind of title would simply not get released from mainstream publishers, at any level of quality.
Exactly! I think quality can be better too without having publishers pressuring the devs to meet a certain date or change parts of the game negatively.
