Re: Wrong Number: Why Phone Companies Overcharge For Data |

That kinda makes sense and would explain my situation. I have used two different data-tracking apps/tweaks on my phone and they always show less data usage than AT&T. I wish there was a way to prove that they overcharge and go after them for it.
I wonder how they disguised the data as DNS requests... |

Pretty damn amazing! It sure is! Some folks got a lot of money to put towards this game. I wonder how many of them are just enthusiastic gamers with money and how many are other devs helping out.
Edit: Just noticed they added stretch goals and they sound pretty good! They're even adding more $5k tiers since they sold out which is wild. The "digital only" tiers will probably be popular too. I think the $2mil goal would be cool.

| Yeah, I'm surprised they haven't at least posted an update to thank all the backers now that it has passed their funding limit. |

Well they got their funding now and it's still going! I estimate it'll go over 3mil easy. I'm waiting now to see what kind of stretch goals they will have and other info about the game. I'm backing at $20 now but will gladly increase it if they give more details. |

Still they are probably laughing their asses off at how easily and quickly they are earning the money, and kicking themselves for not asking for like 5 million. They don't have to ask for that much, they'll probably get over that much by the time it's over! |

I wonder when Obsidian will post their first update about the huge support they've gotten so far.

They're an established developer - they should be going to a publisher and doing it right, not hitting up gamers for money before they've even begun. It's like a millionaire panhandling. Maybe they want to make the game how they and we want without a publisher telling them how to do it and how quick to finish it. |

Tumbler wrote on Sep 14, 2012, 15:49: I'd drop $100 today on them if this was a scifi game or something set in the future. My only complaint is that this is a fantasy game. I can get over that and enjoy it anyway but my funding this is hoping this project goes nuclear and gets WAY WAY WAY more funding than 1 million and they're able to deliver a product no one thought possible.
Then they try and do a future scifi game and pull in double what they get here! I think some kind of futuristic game like this would be cool too. It would be nice if they let the backers vote on stuff like that. |

Mad Max RW wrote on Sep 14, 2012, 15:54: Eh, the weakest part of Baldur's Gate and especially Planescape Torment was the real time with pause combat. These type of games work best when turnbased. I actually prefer the pause system over turn-based combat because it feels more realistic to me. You can pause it and give them all their commands then watch it action instead of spending more time taking turns attacking.
Just my opinion though! I still don't mind turn-based games (and backed Wasteland 2 as well) but prefer to pause to give orders. |

Over $315k now! |

| It's stupid though.. data is data. It shouldn't matter how we use it. You'd think over time the competition between phone companies would make things better for us consumers but it isn't happening. |

| It's funny that they say, "With Big Picture for Steam, we are trying to do our part to give customers and developers what they want - their games, everywhere, optimized for the environment in which they are playing." ..yet it doesn't even support WinXP. Sure, it's an old OS now but I bet there are many still using it. I will just be upgrading to Win7 this year when I upgrade my PC hardware. |

Yeah, I thought the 'K' models were unlocked but maybe they're just overclocked already? I probably won't OC mine much or at all anyways unless I feel it needs it.
I planned on getting just 2 sticks instead of 4 because I thought thats what was required for the dual channel to work but I wasn't sure. I never really looked into it though but that's good to know. |
