We're trying to fix a bug which isn't reproduceable with the same hardware and operating system at our test lab. NVIDIA or ATI can't reproduce this 100% at their test labs either. We are trying at least. We could also say that "Don't use the latest drivers from your video card manufacturer. The problem doesn't exist with their older not so optimized drivers."
I'm sorry if a PC game development company trying to support and troubleshoot techical problems via a non-public beta patch gives you a hard time.

I'm not sure if this comforts anyone, but there wasn't a single known bug in in Max Payne when it went gold. And nothing has popped up so far either. And no, we didn't just "let's wrap it up and keep our fingers crossed".
A couple of 3D cards have minor driver issues, most of which can be fixed with upgrading to latest driver revisions, but that is sort of a given with the current status of hardware and drivers.
Looking at the amount of mission critical bugs that a lot of shipped games nowadays have, I find it impossible to believe that the developers didn't know of those problems. Or then there simply hasn't been _any_ testing for titles that have dozens of dead-on showstoppers.
