Now THOSE are kickass. So sick of seeing Star Wars/Trek LEGO models.
Nice to see some amazing-looking anime LEGOs.

Was this purchase really necessary?
I mean, it doesn't seem to be based off the movie in any capacity excepting the setting(vietnam).
Sounds pointless to me.

Personally, I don't understand why people think these games are any fun. I've tried out Everquest, UO and Ragnarok Online.
Maybe it's just me. I'd rather play a strong, solid game that doesn't REQUIRE you to play with other people all the time. Why can't these games use the MM part as a sort of color to the real game?
It may also be my lack of imagination. It's hard to be 'in-character.' Those weirdo SCA people who talk in an English accent all day, drive me nuts(not immplying that's ALL SCA people).

"balance between appealing to casual versus hardcore gamers."
I don't think there really IS much of a balance. Casual gamers are MUCH less likely, IMO, to pay 10-15 bucks a month on top of internet fees for a MMO game. Not to mention the money they'll have to spend on PC upgrades to play said games.
If I was to only play the games every now and then, I sure- as-hell wouldn't feel like I was getting my money out of them.
I wish this business model would hurry up and fail utterly so they can think up a new one.

Personally, I'd rather see an adult-oriented animated mini- series.
I can't think of the real benefit it would bring to make Preacher interactive. I think it works much better as a story.

"the old voices were so much better."
I totally agree. Plus, with the 1 million+ they put down to re-dub it, it's very unlikely we'll ever hear the original voices on DVD.
I still prefer watching anime in the original japanese, tho.

Creepy. I was just reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory this morning(need to make a trip to the library and get something new to read). Cease your ESP-wielding powers, Blue. You saw what happened to that kid in Akira, didn't you?

I swear that everyone forgets this is the Neverending Story game that was promised a couple years ago.
Or maybe everyone just forgot there was supposed to BE a Neverending Story game promised a couple of years ago.

There's also going to be tons of quality PS2 games.
And really...the PSX/PS1 is an outdated system. Yet, there are still a few people buying it. There are also still a handful of PSX games that are hitting the market.
The first year the PS2 was launched it sold pretty damned well, I'd say.
GT3/GTA3/FFX/MGS2 and the lack of systems at launch might have stopped some people from getting a PS2 early on, but at least those games were ANNOUNCED when the system was released. I check the up&coming list for all three of the systems every now and then, yet I only ever see maybe one or two X-Box games that peak MY interests(and I like to believe I enjoy a plethora of gaming genres).
The PS2 might not have some of the 'prettier' features that the X-Box and Gamecube brag about, but Sony seems to attract quite a few developers who know what makes for good gameplay.

Personally, I'd prefer the 'playground' left to Sony and Nintendo.
I want the 2 or 3 decent X-Box titles ported over to the PC. It'd be nice to be able to play the upcoming Mech Assault(I believe that's the one) and Halo(based on hype) on my PC.
My Dreamcast(less than $50 now) is as 'Next-Gen' as I'm going to get in the console world for a few years.

"James Bond comes to the PC this year for the first time ever."
Uhmm...that's wrong.
007: Licence to Kill James Bond: Goldfinger James Bond: Stealth Affair, The James Bond 007 in: A View to a Kill
All PC games.
Unless he means it's the first time this year it's coming for the PC...then he'd be correct.

"Gamespy and Godgames... these companies are ruining the gaming market. This is where gaming companies are set apart i feel, like Lucas Atrs. They can affors to tell gamespy to go fuck itself and publish thier own game! Good for them. "
What the hell does Gamespy have to do with this? They made the gamespy server browser, gamespy arcade, and own most of the planet websites.
How exactly did THEY ruin the industry?

Actually, I don't believe they have the rights to Shadowrun. FASA Studios, if I remember correctly, is just the namesake that Microsoft bought when they acquired the Mechwarrior/Battletech video game licenses.
FASA the RPG company is no more. I believe Shadowrun is now owned by...Wizkid Studios? Something like that.

"It's a typical American view: the rest of the world doesn't matter. Well it does."
Nonono...The rest of the world DOES matter. But us first. Do you think the citizens of these 'troubled' countries think any different?
"That was the REAL lesson of September 11. Foriegn nations CAN have a DIRECT influance on you.
But even if they don't, it's important to realize that they are people too. It IS important"
I dunno. I think the suicidal bastards' "direct influence" showed me that there are some humans who just aren't people.

#49: "What are the really important and long term issues? Is it recording TV shows (that IS copyright infringement I believe)" Nope. It's legal to tape television shows for later use. You may tape for you or your friends. It was a big issue back around 1980.
"or is it a potential nuclear war between India or Pakistan? Or dozens dead in fighting between Israel and Palestine?" I find them pretty funny, actually. For countries whose people bitch about the US so much and say we should not try to be the 'peacekeepers' of the world, they sure do get in a lot of crap.
"How about Russian nuclear disarmament?" Those nukes have been sitting there for years. They can wait a bit longer.
"I'm not implying we should not look out for draconian laws that will restrict our liberties... but there are many more issues beyond US borders that could have a big impact on us (and even if they don't have an effect on us, does that make them unimportant?). "
Of course they're not unimportant. However, and I believe this phrase wholeheartedly, "Fix yourself before you try and fix someone else." Whose nukes should we be disabling first? Ours or the Russians? Whose war should we be worrying more about? The one between India and Pakistan or the 'war on terrorism' we declared last year?
I suppose when it comes down to it, I don't want the US to be the pot calling the kettle black. Of course we should worry about nuclear war between two foreign lands. That is some bad, BAD business. But we're getting too lazy here and letting our government do away with our pleasures in life.
Without our pleasures, what the hell are we?
