I suppose my dislike for these games is the overall functionality of levelling up.
Personally, I HATE to be forced to group with people just to improve my character's skills. Not to mention that starting your characters out a few levels lower than being able to catch and kill a chicken in a roost is another big minus for me.
The lack of story also hurts these games' credibility. I like goals. Roleplaying is fun, however there seems to be any reason to. I suppose maybe someday we'll see an MMORPG with the likes of Morrowind(SW:G perhaps?), until then I'd rather spend my money on 'sure' things.

$13? How can anyone actually pay so much for these highly boring games?
No MMORPG, it seems, will ever be as kewl as Legend of the Red Dragon. Sad...

I remember being all hyped-up about TF2 way back when it was announced to be a free mod for Q2.
The problem with the engine, to me, is not that it looks outdated, but that mods are still limited to the engine code from way back when which still forces fairly small maps(by today's standards) among other problems.
Graphically, tho...heh...I remember playing this game in 320x240(or did I go all the way down to 200?) on my P-233 with an old ATI-Rage IIc AIW card.
Shortly afterwards I got a Voodoo Banshee and kicked some CS ass back when the game was still fun and cheating wasn't mainstream.
Anywho, Valve, ship another 'good product.'

The new software controversy |

Ugh...I'm so sick of these new proposals. Software SHOULD be warrantied just like every other kind of product out there.
The problem is, there are many kinds of 'software' out there and no single proposal could cover them all. Software needs its OWN constitution.

It is a fun game. However, I didn't think it was all THAT great. The light-saber combos were fairly crap. I want to be able to move the damned sword hand around ala Die By the Sword. THEN I'll feel like a Jedi 'frickin' Knight.

"talking about destruction, "dubbing" (changing language with voice acting) movies has got to be the sillyest thing ever. Cant imagine why anyone would want to watch a movie like that, it ruins everything.."
There are, believe it or not, good reasons for dubbing. Personally, I prefer my foreign films subtitled, but alas... My friend's brother has a reading disorder and, while a fairly smart kid, can't read subtitles that quickly. It's also good for being able to do something else while you're watching a movie without having to pause it or wait til you have more time. Plus, it could help a foreigner learn english quicker if they know the movie(or read the subtitles in their own language and convert it to memory that way).
My major gripe isn't the dubbing necessarily, it's the changing of the story WHEN it's dubbed.
My secondary gripe is when stupid US distributors don't release the movie in its original language and instead opt- out for the crap dub only. *shudder*

Retailers Shun New Acclaim 'XXX' Game... |

Seriously...how stupid is this? They'll sell movies featuring MUCH worse, but throw a little bit of nudity into a game and "we won't stand for that kind of vulgarity!"
Did the Wal-Mart guys even SEE the game? I mean, come on. This isn't really even a violent game. And lighten up Toys R' Us. Jesus.

Let's see...
"By 2007, Microsoft hopes to have 10 million subscribers for Xbox Live."
heh...it'll never happen. Maybe if they would've launched in Korea with 'Super Happy Fun Time the MMORPG' they would reach their goal, but, seriously...
"The smart kids will argue that parents will be able to use that same high-speed connection for their home computer. Not a bad plan, but that only adds to the cost. In order to fuel both a PC and Xbox, you'll need a router or networking kit – another $50-$100. And I won't even go into the pain of having to wire your house so you've got a network connection in your living room (where most consoles reside)."
Not to mention that AT&T Broadband which services a hefty amount of cable users(and not in the good ol' Las Vegas way) doesn't allow you to use a router for multiple connections, instead forcing you to pay an extra $5 a month for their butchered service. Oh, and that extra $5 doesn't buy you any more bandwidth. ~,~
MS is living in a dream world full of huge green Xs that pay out small green rectangles. It will never happen...

And what's wrong with senseless violence?
Sure he sounds like a foulmouth idiot, but I think he's just joking around.

'"It is not often we see such a clear case of national-origin discrimination," said Susan L. McDuffie, the commission's San Francisco director.'
Don't get me wrong, Sega might not be the best-run business in the world, but I don't think anyone with 1/2 a mind would fire that many Filipinos without good reason.

"It may not be an apples to apples analogy but it does shine a light on someone making a broad generalization about a group that really can't be backed up with any facts."
While I may or may not agree with the analogy, this is obviously an opinion he made based on his perception of the English. Proof doesn't factor in(unless you count all those medieval movies with the king dressed in money and the poor writhing around in their own filth as 'proof' ~,^).

'and the stars of the industry have just as much right to be "rich" as actors, musicians, authors or anyone else who works in a creative industry for the hard work they put in and the entertainment they give to people."'
Everyone has a RIGHT to be rich, however, most actors and musicians(not including authors as there are hundreds of thousands of them and the success rate is VERY low) do not DESERVE to be rich.
Although, I do believe that game developers should be paid more(or at all, as the case may be *cough*fatbabies.com*cough*). Publishers are pretty greedy. Still, part of the problem is the retail stores who sell their merchandise(that and the MSRP of $50+). They are the ones who keep the prices so damned high. Lot of blame here. Still, games cost too much. Wish there was a way to keep them cheaper.

Well, seeing as how it doesn't seem like they were trying to attract any US publishers(or not doing it very well), you could see how a lot of people overlooked it.
