2.5D is not what the RE games are. 2.5D is what Duke Nukem 3d was.

I'm curious as to whether Majestic will pass it off as programmer's art just to show off the engine and not the final product which will be 100% theirs, or if they'll send off an apology to Bethesda and fire the artist.

It'll be a lot harder avoiding a lawsuit if they've given a copy of the game(no matter what the state) to anyone outside their company.

Didn't need to. They put it up for free for a couple of days on FilePlanet.

I am very glad I didn't actually shell out money for it.
Talk about misunderstanding the audience. Even my wife would've rather played a space sim than that travesty.

Where the Buffalo Roam was great. Maybe you didn't see it in the "right mindset"?

While I won't defend SM3 with my life, I will contend that I've seen much worse sequels.

X-Men 3 sucked. They killed off a major character(not talking about "her"), "Baned" Juggernaut and ruined the whole "Dark Phoenix" thing. There wasn't a single alien. The only good thing about the whole movie was Kelsey Grammar(sp?) as Beast.

And what's wrong with Transformers? How could that movie undo the sheer terror that was the dance scene in Transformers: The Movie? I thought it was awesome. Giant robot battles in metropolitan areas, cool beans.

I agree about the stupid achievements. I'm cool with the ones that are gameplay-essential, like 1,000,000 healing points. That's awesome. That's an achievement.

However, the ones that REALLY piss me off are the stupid "friend" ones. I have to make buddies to get extra weapons? Lame. I play this game when I have time to, which with a wife and kid makes it almost nil. I don't play with the general public because I "love the community". I play because nobody can develop realistic AI.

ah well...

It's just one way to defray the skyrocketing costs of videogames

Which I would understand if the end-user saw a break from the $60 price that games come out at now, but it's not going to happen.

There are no laws in the US that govern selling kids mature rated video games/movies/books/whatever, UNLESS it's porn.

However, most businesses have their own regulations regarding sale to minors.

Well, at least they won't be able to blame piracy on their low sales numbers.

There is that.

No, I think the fact that we've basically outlawed internet gambling makes us feel like you outsiders.

News Comments > Carmack on Crysis
11. No subject Jun 4, 2008, 01:02 Hyatus

I dunno. With the recent bs about no more patches for Crysis, I think anyone should be open to bashing them.

And sure he plugs his game. Welcome to business 101.

He's absolutely right, though. Crysis is a game for hardcore players. It isn't remotely accessible to noobs.

And how many people played through Crysis and then uninstalled it? It's not a lasting game. The first three Quake games are lasting.

I think I'm fine with him speaking up given these points.

From what I read the game was uninspired, it was hard to make any kind of money and it didn't allow US players outside of the freeplay zones. It's no wonder.

At least someone's trying, though.
If only there was a way to play Madden NFL for real cash...

2. *sigh* Jun 3, 2008, 11:27 Hyatus

You know, the first time I saw the trailer for the movie I was excited. They show all the other animals doing awesome kung-fu like stuff, I'm psyched because it's a cool-looking martial arts movie with animals that isn't dumbed down, I'm going to pay money to see it and then:

The panda.

Whatever happened to serious animated movies? All the cool stuff they can do these days with 3d and it all has to be relevant to the kiddies. I wish someone would kill off all of the producers that think movies need to be dumbed down, need to have a romantic interest, need to add an uber-"urban" character for "laughs"(*cough*WandaSykes*cough*), need to add a kid, etc...

I sure miss a lot of the pre-80's era of film and music where people would take chances on movies. And look how many more classics we had before then.

Alright, jumping off of the soap box.*ahh, that feels better*

eh, pretty weak trolling.
Equating this statement with enslavement, pro-environmentalism, communism and our general elections is way too far-reaching.

But, have a banana sticker anyways.

I don't think he means he wants to play an arcade-y blaster, exactly.

He's bringing up some valid points, here.
It's not like it's an easy task to "wing-man" in these space-sims. Most of them make it feel like you're sitting at a monitor while doing target practice. It's difficult to look around and spot your buddies.

Plus, these games typically leave out a lot of features that co-op in space requires: voice-chat, sending targetting info, constant ship-markers, etc...

Not to mention that the AI wingman code isn't usually terribly realistic.

It's hard to command a wing.

Co-op in space games is only not fun because the network code usually sucks.
