I actually like Retro Colors better now with the new design for some wierd reason. Maybe its because of that blue area on top with the "speed-lines" goes better with black..
It's easier to make something cool when you don't have to take care of all the details that are in a "real" game. You obviously havent tried "The Chickinator" I think nearly EVERY SINGLE "play time" game is far better

Fly_2: well its not excactly a game as such, still it has me pondering..Why is it that those "Play time" games are sometimes far better than some of those "real" games in the news.. Did anyone try that "chickinator" game from yesterdays "ETC."? Damn that is the single WORST DAMN GAME IVE EVER PLAYED. EVER. Its almost worth trying just to know how bad things can get.. I think its supposed to be "fun" .. but its not..

heh. "code panel OWNED" Did CliffyB work on this?
Anyways, seems like fun, maybe Ill pick up U2 if I find it on discount, I've only tried the first U2 SP demo, and that just sucked. this one doesnt.
too much lag though, even though I think I played on a "real" server( not a home connection). Ill have to try this some more later.

I know it's free and all but I already payed for CoD. I wish CoD had some of the gameplay elems though. Timed holding of grenades gets distance, bunnyhop is useless, sniper rifles are useless from the hip etc. But going back to this kind of graphics is just too depressing. Inf is like the mother of all realistic shooters. I havent had the time to play 2.9 just yet, but in prior versions, all I can say is that the freeaiming etc is much better than.. well most games.. Reason I didnt actually play it that much is the terrible terrible wrecked ut1 (!!already bad!!) menu system. hope this one is better
As for graphics,INF isnt excactly top-notch, but I cant really say COD impresses me much, it still look and even ..ugh.. feels a bit like Quake3 at times.. and after seeing the STG44 and Kar98 in Red Orchestra, CoD just looks old..
Im really looking forward to any future Sentrystudios projects, using newer tech. I think this Infiltration and most of all UT1, is past its glory days at this point.

>You can't "defeat" terrorism,
Maybe not, but you can stop causing terrorism. The US is guilty of causing terrorism around the world by screwing around with other countries, assassinating world leaders, installing our own puppet regimes, illegally invading countries over lies so we can steal their oil, etc.
If we stopped doing these things, there would be no reason for the terrorists to hate us. You don't see the terrorist bombing the crap out of Canada or Switzerland do you? Excactly, Except for the last bit, remember Bali, where it was directed towards Australians? To extremist like that theres no difference between "westernized" countries If you look american , you are american to them. But the problem is , and will always be the larger countries using the small ones as pieces of a puzzle.
Any one remember all those Iraq war sceptics, saying a war like that would breed a thousand new bin ladens? well, now a new blackhawk is going down every week, not long before we see American incursions into "terrorist camps in Iraq" become rutine.. and then you've got the snowball rolling.. History repeats itself.

Besides if you want a strong reason to carry on and defeat terrorism just look at the turkey bombings. if u go with the peace line then we should just sit back and let em blow us all up, screw that!we had a bad enough time letting the ira bomb the crap out of us without letting a new lot of suicidal nutcases fester and then hit us. And boom, a discussion is started.
"The war on terrorism" is like beating a bulk on your carpet flat with a sledgehammer, it destroys everything underneath. Just like with drugs, smuggling or anything else for that matter , youll have to deal with it, instead of starting a war on it. The Israeli/palestinian conflict is an excellent example of how the war on terror works. It doesnt.
George W.Bush and his club are working nicely with Idiots like Osama Bin Laden, as he's being more and more agressive to muslim countries, this will , if not stopped, lead to one last battle, christians vs muslims, last man standing. He is fueling the fire, getting more and more common muslims to sympathize with extremists. The exact same thing is happening in gaza, except its been going on for longer.
"Give me the money that has been spent in war and I will clothe every man, woman, and child in an attire of which kings and queens will be proud. I will build a schoolhouse in every valley over the whole earth. I will crown every hillside with a place of worship consecrated to peace."

Eve Of Destruction By Barry McGuire, 1965
The eastern world it tis explodin', violence flarin', bullets loadin', you're old enough to kill but not for votin', you don't believe in war, what's that gun you're totin', and even the Jordan river has bodies floatin', but you tell me over and over and over again my friend, ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.
Don't you understand, what I'm trying to say? Can't you see the fear that I'm feeling today? If the button is pushed, there's no running away, There'll be noone to save with the world in a grave, take a look around you, boy, it's bound to scare you, boy, but you tell me over and over and over again my friend, ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.
Yeah, my blood's so mad, feels like coagulatin', I'm sittin' here, just contemplatin', I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation, handful of Senators don't pass legislation, and marches alone can't bring integration, when human respect is disintegratin', this whole crazy world is just too frustratin', and you tell me over and over and over again my friend, ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.
Think of all the hate there is in Red China! Tehn take a look around to Selma, Alabama! Ah, you may leave here, for four days in space, but when your eturn, it's the same old place, the poundin' of the drums, th pride and disgrace, you can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace, hate your next-door-neighbour, but don't forget to say grace, and you tell me over and over and over and over again my friend, ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

well in case you havent noticed, "respawning" doesnt happen in real life. shitty thing that, but true. What I'm sayin is, that, ofcourse respawning brings in something very unnatural in the game, and the point is , when you meet your enemies in war, your atleast trying to be prepared, death can still come quick ofcourse, but usually your not executed at birth. It gets even more bizarre that the so called spawncamper knows excactly where people will pop out of thin air, and with a bit of training, even when they will come..
As Ive said before, this have to be countered by the design of the game or map, so it will seem that the other team actually comes from somewhere believable..

But my real mod bummer is how EoD (my favorite mod) seems basically dead since the last BF1942 patch I tried the 10% release (the first one), wasnt bad, Its time to check it out again.. how'bout we make a deal, I'll try EoD, and youll try Red Orchestra, RO is also in desperate need of players ATM..

Spawncamping Is a problem, but i think its an almost pure game/map design problem, lets face it. If spawncamping works effectivly to win a map, then theres just something wrong. Sure, you can still claim its "lame" and all that, but on the other hand "staying back to give the other team a chance" isnt really good either, is it? thats the sort of "tactics" you use if you play-fight with someone smaller than you, like kids, you just let them win a bit..
Its not the sort of thing you'd do if youre actually trying to win a war(eh.. game) Maps and game-mode should be designed in such a way that spawncamping doesnt pay or is just too hard or useless to do
In the oh-so excellent game I cant stop talking about, Red Orchestra, there are some maps that are just IMPOSSIBLE to SC on , such as RO_Stanislalovo, where the natural frontline is being constantly moved back and forth, you really need to work as a team to push the enemy backwards, and it just works so great. real frantic, even tho its a very open outdoor map.

The feel..
I think I know exactly what you mean, and since I'm a big fan of RO, youll might think Ill say it feels good just to say it. But I swear Its not really tied up to the UT2003 feeling AT ALL, like even COD is still tied up with Q3 IMO.
some points:
1.Walking speed/jump/crouch/prone: completely changed from UT2003,I dont see ANY similarities 2.NO UT2003 material textures/models/sounds are used, and I mean NONE. 3.NO crosshairs, Seriously , this is so well implemented in the game, that even after playing FPS's for 8 years or so, it now feels really WEIRD to play a game with crosshairs. 4. minimalistic hud: RO is aiming for simple realism, meaning if its simple to do in real life, it should be simple ingame, therefore, the hud only has a human figure telling you where you are hurt (no %damage), and how many magazines you have left, and if it feels heavy or light when you reload.. and it has a round timer, thats it.
This doesnt say that much, but the "changes" are so many, that its almost pointless calling them changes anymore, RO is just its own game.
Its actually MUCH slower than DOD, but thats so well iimplemented with the rest of the game, it feels a 100% right, you wont feel like a feather moving through tare if you know what I mean.
I looked at some screen shots & I don't see anything much different from DoD in them at all really. shots does no justice at all, and it feels VERY different from DOD.
Overall, I guess theres just really nothing I can say to show you how good it is or feels, youll just have to try it yourself. I'd say buy ut2003 instead of CoD. Try it at a friends computer or borrow his copy or something, just try it.
