19. Re: No subject Jan 7, 2005, 22:36 BicycleRepairMan

We have seen Screen Shots of DNF, even if they where 5 graphic engines old. So, it obviously exists too, some what, in some form
I've also seen both videos and photos of the Phantom console.. I guess vaporware means its not likely to come out very soon..

I personally think the jury was 100% right in naming Phantom #1, I guess they figured DNF has had enough after the lifetime achievement award. Call me naive but I believe both TF2 and DNF will come out some day, Phantom , on the other hand is a BULLSHIT P.O.S that will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER see the light of day. and I will stand by that

Edit: spelling and general drunkeness (sorry)

Sure, lots of things are bad in this world, but this is still a major disaster, certainly the worst non-war event ever to affect my country, with 1440 missing norwegians atm.. unfortunatly, we are far from being the worst hit , of course..

Something good did happen though, like that comment by the UN that pissed off lots of countries and seemed to trigger a contest in giving, lets hope it catches on, so we might see a deletion of the 3rd worlds debt etc, and more help to other crisis around the globe. It wouldnt be a moment to soon.

8. Ladders Dec 17, 2004, 03:50 BicycleRepairMan

Fixed not being able to attach to ladder tops

Ladders is my one annoyance with the Source engine, they really dont work that good it seems, the climb-off can be really frustrating.( a good example is that one ladder in dm_lockdown) The explanation was apparantly that as the maps got more complex, they had to come up with a different system, well fair enough I guess, but IMO, it would be better to keep the old system as a backup, and when creating ladders, the mapper could just keep things simple around the ladder.. Or maybe its the movable props that get in the way.. oh well, the new system is still not that great.

I guess its up to the mappers to make the best out of it, read the tutorial, and use plenty of those "exit spots" or whatever they are called, I tried making a map, and it seems it got smoother if you did it just right.

Let me assure you, though, that the themes and elements that you love about Doom are ALL represented strongly in the film...just with some new twists.

The theme is HELL, the elements are DEMONS and BIG F%##ing GUNS

This movie is about (according to the preview) viruses, virus-infected people and BioForce guns.

Twists my ass.

And your response to incidents like the repeated attacks to the WTC, international flight bombings, bombings in Spain (even after they bowed and wimpered to terrorist pressures in the last election), homicide bombings in the Middle East, and terror cells in many western countries planning/wanting to try chemical/nuke/biological/conventional attacks on civilians (among other things) would be what, exactly?

Maybe it would be to go after THE PEOPLE WHO DID IT, like Osama bin Laden, (instead of some random oil rich dictator who never made a single threat to the USA), and go into no-nonsense dialog with Saudi Arabia, where most of the terrorists seems to come from, and find out why this country seems to breed terrorism so effeciently.. just a suggestion.

30. Pantera Dec 9, 2004, 13:39 BicycleRepairMan

That shooting was really tragic. I've never heard Damage Plan, but I did listen alot to Pantera a few years ago, "Cowboys from hell" and "Vulgar display of power" mostly.

A sad day for metal, and even for music and live performances as a whole.

12. Re: yay Dec 1, 2004, 09:13 BicycleRepairMan

WOW!! this was just COOL, I am happy to note that the physics are NOT bouncy and lame-ish like in CS:source, so now you can stack climb etc just like in SP HL2, only played for 5 mins but I've already had atleast 5 "Wow!" kills, like throwing explosive barrels at people etc. I just loved it.

up yours, you reviewers who complained that "CS:S is the only MP" I could never understand in the first place why a remake of the most successful online game ever can be called "only" when it comes with the best SP FPS game ever made, but maybe thats just me.

After Buddha was dead, his shadow was still shown for centuries in a cave a tremendous, gruesome shadow. God is dead; but given the way of men, there may still be caves for thousands of years in which his shadow will be shown.

The demo was called HL: Uplink , Day one was the press demo, released before the main game.

I think the suprise is HL2 DM of some kind. that guy who first said it was gold (when it was true) said they'd do it, mentioning the grav gun and that we'd be pleased even if it was just one map.

BTW, here's a list of FPS I enjoyed more than HL2:

I fully disagree. Each to his/her own I guess.

If you think that HL2 is the best FPS of all time then I wonder what you have been doing the last 10 years?

Hmm, I think that , and I think I've played most FPS's since DOOM.. can you point out the one that beats HL2.. seriously, I'd really like to play it.(guess your answer will be "any FPS without steam" If youre having problems, my sympathies to you but TBH, I havent had one single problem with steam since the steam-beta, where it sometimes hung up on updating.)

Half life 2 is the best game ever.

dont make up excuses for big fat bill newell gates

Yeah HL2 is just a really bad game. At first I just thought it was the greatest game ever made, but now that you've pointed out the no-hands thing, and that one of its developers weighs more than an average person, I just realize how much it sucks. Thanks for this info dude, you rule. kthx

edit: better change my sig

Half life 2 is the best worst game ever, you cant see the hands!!

Day of Defeat is being professionally redone. Hence why it isn't done yet. In my opinion, paying $60 and getting HL2, HL:S, CS:S, and DoD:S (four full games), is a fucking great deal.

You also get the back catalouge (in the Silver pack) including HL1 and all its mods :), so yeah a great deal indeed.

Half life 2 is the best game ever.

All of those things we know about JFK. In your example, we have none of that.

Well most are based off of real battles, some nazis are even mentioned by name AND presented as unholy robotic monsters you need to kill.

Just.... wow
I'm just speechless, the way you can just improvise combat as you go, and then seeing the AI do the same.. like when you are low on health, it just helps you get creative awesome.

Also, I just realised how grenade just makes the AI seem better in games, Like in HL and HL2 where enemies actively use them to flush you out, which effectivly ends the fantasicly boring "look around the corner and shoot the arm"-tactics you are somtimes encouraged to do in other games. Anyways, been playing for hours , time for some food.
