It's a pretty standard stance to hold a flashlight in your left hand, facing down, and cross your right wrist over your left one, thereby shining the light forward and stabilizing your shooting hand. Implementing that would be cool, too, as the shot would make the light move around. Actually, proper indoors use of a pistol, and the standard used by special forces etc, is holding the gun close to your body with both hands (wrists firmly against the upper stomach area) pointing forwards, so that wherever you turn, the pistol points correctly, and youll hit in "the general area" of your target, and you can just fire if you are suprised. also, as opposed to the hollywoodish "straigt arms" method, people cant break both your arms and take your gun with the help of a baseball bat when you round a corner..
If there is time/oppurtunity, you bring up the gun to aim with a stabbing motion ,and not the "swing-up", this is to get the shot right on, so you dont need time to stabilize it.

For those of us who live far away, near the north pole, and still havent gotten the preorder, even if santa is closer(go figure) is there a "secondary attack/fire" on the DOOM3 guns? If not, you can just use that key (secondary fire in other games) to switch to flashlights, for me, that would be R or middle mouse... EDIT, i think i will use R for flash and Middle M for "Best weapon"

Ok, still, I find flash/sound ads more annoying than pop-ups or takeovers combined, And it seems they are getting more and more common.., not just here on BN.. so I highly recommend flashblock, I think its the best browser option ever, and should be default in all browsers IMO.

Bottom line, if you buy one of the newer cards, it will run "Fantastic" on one game and "Superb" on the other. Its like a couple of FPS difference.. who cares? If you only care for DOOM, get nVidia, if you only care for HL2, get ATI, If you, like me, cant wait to play either of these games, flip a coin on the cards.

If it doesn't hit the hitbox it obviously didn't hit anything else inside it so you don't have to spend a lot of time checking the individual components on the model. Doom3 will use hitboxes (or bounding spheres or whatever suits their algorithms) simply because it's very efficient. Why waste cycles checking for a hit per poly if you already know it never got close? Ok.. as long as you can shoot between 2 limbs and miss, I dont really care what they call it, I hope its like that in both DOOM3 and Half-Life 2

just out of interest, is hl2 and the source engine still using hitboxes as well? wouldn't surprise me.. hehehe I'm wondering about this too, I know DOOM3 is using the actual models to detect hits, so you can shoot rockets under players arms or between their legs etc, and they wont get hit.. I havent heard the same about HL2, and since its quite a significant change, the chances are they would have mentioned it by now... EDIT:
OsinO: really?? I must have missed that, do you have any links to some quotes/articles mentioning it?

Jeez. Those HL guys will do anything to keep people thinking about HL, now that Doom 3 is gold. This isnt from the "HL guys", its a mod team, makers of Natural Selection, claiming to have found a bug in HL that affects all mods, and gives some players an advantage..
ok its 15/16!! gogogo!! own them all!! lol

Look at the date people, its july 2004, valve has supported their game, HL, for SIX FULL YEARS, Go get a copy of "Sin" , a FPS released around the same time, and check out how much ritual does to keep it alive.. Noone even remembers the damn game anymore.. WON is a service, it costs money to keep it running. they've had it for six years, eventually its gotta go, face the fact, computer games cant be supported forever, Valve however has decided to port their games over to a new and better system, where they will run future games too, thus giving new life to these old games and mods.

Image of the day.. upside down case??
Whats so special about that case?? sure its kinda nice looking and some flashy lights etc.. but still.. I thought it was kinda straight compared to other cases Ive seen like spaceship models and new stuff in old apple computers, the Half-life 2 case.. etc.. is it even upside down?? and if it is, wouldnt it be easier just to eh.. turn a normal case upside down? edit:
Go Winnebago man!! .. classic..

This is one of the reasons I stay away from MS programs, not because the software itself is bad, but because everything that ever targets anything for attack (spam, viruses, adware etc.), will target the most widely used software.. MS software..
Im sure there are ways to bypass and hack any software/protection, its just that with less profiled software, no one even tries...

I dont play mmog myself, not my style, and I dont like monthly fees, but its still sad when games get cancelled, cause in the end , it costs ALOT of money to make a modern game, and these cancelled projects all add to the "Risky buisness" level of gaming, leaving investors to be careful with their money , which means future games will end up like hollywood movies, based on standard formulas and safe bet projects like sequels, movie tie-ins (oh the horror) etc.

Alright, alright, I have been going on and on.. But I was right tho, this is a fantastic mod, and it deserves to be played, back in its UT2003 days, you could go online sometimes without finding any players, which is frustrating, especially when the game is this good.
