Uh 7/7 lucky day?? you do know that UK people remember that date a bit like the date 9/11 is remembered in the US, right? as in "The seven-seven bombings in London"

IAW, not considered a "reverse Friday the 13th" exactly here in Europe..

"I hope Frictional Games does not disappoint as usual" is a bad sentence, it could be read both ways either "I hope they do not disappoint, they usually dont" OR "I hope they do not disappoint , like they usually do"

"#GamerGate Isn't A Harassment Campaign, States WAM! Report…"

Thats not exactly what the report says. it actually says that 12% of abuse (12% of a specific blocklist) can be linked to GG.

Getting the message that you are responsible for 12% of the harassment on twitter is hardly a good sign.

The real measure of how good or bad GG is would be the ratio WITHIN GG of abusers, misogynists etc on one side vs decent people on the other side. if only an insignificant minority of GGrs were assholes, then fine, you can claim GG is not a bad thing.

I also would like to see the GG being measured on its actual accomplishments/consequences. We know for instance, that several women have had their lives disrupted and partially ruined by GG harassment. How many important ethical injustices have been revealed by GG to make up for bullshit like that?

Obviously I was being facetious, I didnt mean tokens or whatever specifically, I meant the idea of paying for an endless stream of virtual stuff, such as subscriptions, items, gold, whatever, not to mention the 3rd party black and gray markets (gold-farming etc.)This token stuff just seems to be a continuation of all that stuff.. I like paying for a game once, basically. Plus on the offchance that actually playing it will change my mind, I dont want to become addicted to one of these things. So THAT is why I dont play MMOs

So, out of curiosity, because I have never ever, ever played wow or any other MMO, what the hell is a token? Reading the description, it sounds alot like ingame currency, whats the point if there is gold already? Basically you pay $20 real money for a token that you can sell for pretend money gold? I guess this is why I dont play MMOs or F2P.

Sounds like you weren't playing MMO's anyway, and WoW is only 10 years old. Not like you had time to try playing it well before something like this ever came up.

28. Re: MS to Reveal $2.5B Mojang Deal Tomorrow? Sep 14, 2014, 14:05 BicycleRepairMan

I dont know how Mojang could possibly be worth 2.5 billion. I mean, sure, I guess minecraft can still sell a few million copies, But lets face it: Minecraft is a viral hit, a one-off. MS/mojang can still rake in some money on it, but Mojang making "another MineCraft" is a near impossibility. It doesnt matter how talented or dedicated they are to making the best game ever. Hell they could even make the best game ever, but it wont be close to as popular as minecraft. Some of these aquisition prices are completely ridiculous, and will be the end of companies like MS and Facebook. Mojang is what, 15 swedes in an office building hired by notch + the minecraft ip. At some point, MS has to ask themselves what you -could- have done with 2500 million dollars. You could hire 50 people and pay them each a million dollars a year the rest of their life (and still have interest to spare.) I refuse to believe that a company like MS cant think of a better way of spending that kind of money.

I got 77-7 = 70 on the test, I'm a non-native speaker, so pretty happy with that. In fact, I've never even been in the US or Canada. (or England for that matter. Been in scotland once.)

I did feel slightly cheated, as I discarded "hath" because I thought it was extinct, but apparantly thou still hath some use for it!

Totally off topic but -

Why has their been no update on Start Citizen 'Arena Commander' weekly reports? They had one like 13 days ago then nothing, is this why the game is racing behind it's schedule because in Christ Roberts land, a week is like 16 days or something?

Back to your normal topic now thank you

Cant type/update while running. away. with your money.

"The fall down of evolution" what the hell does that mean? shouldnt it be "the downfall" or "the fall", and how can "evolution" fall(down)? are we talking about biological evolution? Evolution is simply a natural process of change, it will go on no matter what, and it has no goals or ambitions, it just happens.

LOL at the urination water thing. So an average bladder is something like .5 liters. thats .5 litres urine in 132 MILLION litres of water. So thats a 1 in 264 million concentration. Urine, of course, is 95% water anyway, and the remaining 5% is completely harmless waste products from the bloodstream. You could easily drink a gallon of urine from a healthy person and not suffer the slightest.

On a related note, a random glass of water is almost guaranteed to contain atleast one watermolecule that have passed through Napoleons bladder. This is due to the fact that there are orders of magnitude more molecules of water in a single glass then there are glasses of water on earth, and due to the laws of diffusion, that has made sure that Napoleons urine is now evenly distributed in the earths watermass.

However this turns out, America loses. The whole world thinks America is populated by bullies and litigious bastards. PR disaster.
Pfft, its not an american exclusive, look at Samsung/apple, lawsuits left and right. Its a corporation thing, its what happens when businesses become big, non-personal working-for-the-shareholders giants with no other way to grow but to move money between eachother. No doubt US is the epicenter of all this, but still..

Nono, this was WAAAAY before quake live came along, I think it was in the Quakeworld days, before Quake 2 , and certainly before Q3A too. I believe they used some (badly) photoshopped screenshots of the NIN ammo boxes with a brand logo like coca cola on it (Any other BN'ers remember this??) Anyway it was hysterical and even caused some controversy at the time, like iD would ever sell out like that, not in a million years!

And yeah, this is kinda late, but I remember an aprils fool joke on a gaming site ages ago, where the gag was that id was gonna do product placements in Quake, and we all laughed our asses off at the idea.. now John f'in Carmack works for FACEBOOK. he actually works for facebook, and now hes being sued by a shitty, greedy company of laywers that bought id software before he left.. for FACEBOOK. Jesus Christ.
'

I believe that April Fools Joke's name was Quake Live. They did the in-game advertisement thing for a short while and it was a terrible failure.

To me the most interesting thing about this story is that Zenimax claims they have signed documents giving them ownership of this. I'm looking forward to hearing more details about the content of these documents.. Deal

Carmacks statement that none of his work has been patented is terribly misguided, he SOLD his company, and became an employer of Zenimax, he cant choose what parts of his works are "patented", it depends on Zenimax policies (ie what Carmack/id signed when they sold) what they retain in terms of patents and copyrights. If they have some clause in their business that says "all work and ideas by employees are the sole property of Zenimax etc" (in better legal language, obviously) Theres nothing he can do about it.

I'm not a legal expert either, but it seems just the fact that he's using the word "patent" shows that he doesnt get the issue at hand, I dont think a company needs to patent all ideas to be able to claim that a former employee stole work that was developed under their employment.
