I'm about 90 minutes in to the SP campaign. Its a lot of fun but I'm not quite as impressed with it as a lot of the reviewers seem to be. It's a competent game and probably Treyarch's best effort in the series yet.

I've yet to jump into MP since traditionally I like saving that as a "dessert" after the campaign.

I wish I could understand the reasoning behind unlocking the game nearly 12 hours after the retail game is released.

PR suits are so full of common sense that I'm sure there's a good reason..... Brood

So i finally picked up BF2142 for 12.00 new from gogamer.

It supports 64 players.

Had a blast last night.

IMO, 2142 is probably the best balanced and well-rounded out of all the BF games.

This is simply a translated version of the Korean game that was released earlier this year as Free-to-play

Starting the email farming early I guess.

A suggestion if you are over 30, don't give your real age. These guys have a history of ignoring middle-aged-and-older gamers for betas.

I'm not a fan of the game but I hope it's true just so the customers can enjoy their purchase a bit longer.

I hope TribalWar.com stays far far away from these guys. That site has been the single biggest threat to the demise of the franchise.

I truly enjoyed the original but this thing is the victim of too many half-baked ideas jammed together.

Had the original devs been able to pull this game off it could've been one of the best tactical multiplayer shooters ever made. It's easy-to-pick-up playability of a Battlefield game and the depth of an ARMA title was great (when things worked and you could get online that is.....). Unfortunately PC's simply weren't up to the demands that the destructible terrain put on it. Also, the coding was a disaster.

evidently some good Christian soldier whined to military brass which is mainly composed of older straight-laced types who have utterly no interest in games as entertainment. The "disrespectful" angle was played up and action was taken.

For once I'd like to see a large company NOT buckle under pressure from special interest groups or PC cops and hold their ground.

EA legal are real pricks when it comes to allowing things like this. After the Multiplayer Battletech: 3025 debacle numerous people from the community approached them, some offering a significant amount of cash to allow them to run the game. EA didn't want to hear it.

I'm sure a copyright lawyer would come up with many reasons why this makes sense in their world but, in the end, what good is it doing anybody to shelve a lot of hard work and not let anyone enjoy the fruits of that labor?

as much as I love my PC and prefer all my games to be played on it, the writing is on the wall. No one uses a desktop anymore and the laptops graphics chips are, for the most part, woefully underpowered for AAA games. Most people under 20 use Android/Iphone cellphones to meet their needs.

Yes, theres still a good sized market that is worth pursuing (ie; STEAM sales) but how long is it going to last? This isn't about losing ground to consoles, its just the way computing is headed.

Completely disagree. PC will always play second fiddle to consoles, but as a game platform it's going nowhere. How many registered users are on Steam? How many copies did Starcraft 2 sell?

Not saying its dead per-se but if you take the long view, there aren't any new fans of the platform (for gaming) coming up. If manufacturers can start making the cheapest laptops capable of running AAA games even at low graphical settings then things will get better. As it is now, 10-15 yr old kids aren't going out and buying desktops. Thats really all I'm saying.

This has been a contentious subject here. They're promising 450 jobs by the end of 2012 which is really stretching it. The state had to float a $75 million bond with the state taking most of the risk and Schilling not. kurt easily has that kind of cash. If he has so much faith in the project, let HIM take the risk instead of RI taxpayers.

I'm all for gaming development coming here but not like this.
