Whoa, Hitler in 3 posts! Is that a record?

Does that qualify as a Godwins law slip?

EDIT: BTW, I seriously doubt the game's lack of a 90+ score has anything to do with the game being plausible or not, hell, Freedom Fighters was even more over-the-top and it turned out to be a gem.

IMO Kaos can make a multiplayer game as good as any developer out today (both Desert Combat and Frontlines MP was great, not to mention they prototyped BF2) . Unfortunately either someone at Kaos or THQ absolutely insists on having both single AND multiplayer. Kaos should be making a game in the same manner DICE made Battlefield, as a MP focused game.

You can watch the first 15 minutes of the game and you will see that's is a console styled first person shooter with a implausible plot:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-03-15-homefront-review

The plot is an insult to anyone who knows the very basics of North Koreas's situation. North Korea taking over the world, please. They can't feed their people because of the sanctions and their lack of resources.

There was a little country called Germany many years ago that was in the same position....economically and politically. In that scenario it took one maniac with a vision to nearly take over the free world. Also, you are talking about the NK of today, in the game after Kim Jong Ill dies his son opens up dialogue with the west and unites Korea etc. You are then inserted into the game ....20 years from now? Its improbable but hardly implausible.

FINALLY!

A suit with a pair of balls. I have gotten SO sick of corporate pussies kowtowing to minorities and special interest groups by backpedaling and even changing game content to appease these whining babies. And lets be clear, the whining comes from both the left & right.

Once in awhile EA surprises me.

Get used to it, PC games are nearly impossible to sell used nowadays and this will be the last gen for console titles to be transferable.

seems like the right of consumers gets chipped away a little each year. "Fair use of copyrighted material" is scoffed at by the piles of walking shit (aka attorneys) and and now right of second sale is disappearing.

This is what happens when we allow our entire legal system to be controlled by a group that has a vested interest in removing as many consumer rights as possible. Enjoy kids.

Seems almost petty for a company to do this....

Almost?

I can't get my head around how they think its acceptable to block access to a single player game the guy legally purchased because he said something they didn't agree with. The guy could sue and get a judgment in his favor without even using a lawyer.

I never tried Tilapia until I started dating this Portuguese girl from the Azores. She would bread it and fry it and it was delicious.

Blue, I had the same problem growing, my father would surf-cast all summer in RI and the mainstays were Striper and Bluefish, both of which taste like utter shit due to their dark, oily flesh (particularly Blues). The best fish to have if you have an aversion to a strong fishy flavor is Scrod and Haddock. Both have firm, white flesh and are extremely mild.

It pisses me off that not a single word came out about the Mechwarrior reboot.

I'm losing hope here.....

EDIT: OK, certain connected dev has given a hint that things are looking good on the Mech front so I'm not so bummed now.

Reading Totilo's summary (Kotaku) of the press demo they were allowed to see, it looks like EA is using BF3 as another chess piece to emulate the CoD style rather than focusing exclusively on multiplayer. This isn't exactly good news.

Do these suits understand if they simply allow the developer to create something of quality that they can pull in similar numbers by creativity rather than trying to copy whats already there? CoD has peaked. If Acti releases another game without changing the formula the sales are going to be less than BO.

The RockPaperShotgun hands-on preview wasn't very complimentary. They said it was completely linear and scripted to the point of breaking the immersion because you'd constantly have to wait for your AI allies to do something before you could progress.

It's a shame that this seems like it'll be just another generic pseudo-realistic military shooter. They're putting more effort into the PC version than usual and I'd love to see that become a trend. Unfortunately, I can't buy a game I have no interest in playing.

Kaos's strength has always been their skill at making a solid multiplayer experience. I'd look towards that part of the game for the good stuff.

Poor Painkiller, Dreamcatcher pulls it out of the closet once again like an old burlesque whore dancing for change from filthy old men. A complete lack of respect for a once great IP.

Look, if you are a tweeny 12-13 year old boy hitting puberty this game is for you! It is so unbelievably stupid it's almost funny. It is a decent port, it runs fine but there are a few more tweaks some may want but it's not worth bitching and whining about like the typical PC fanboy is expected to do (expected by CliffyB anyway). I don't think it's worth the $60.00 I paid for it on Steam but at $40.00 it would've been more on target. I have to play the game in 15 min segments because it just starts to get under my skin and after a break I can tolerate it again (for another 15 mins). Maybe I'm getting too old for this type of humor and gameplay but it sure doesn't appeal to me like it's suppose to.

FWIW, the trailers made it pretty evident that Epic was going to use the old fallback oversized meathead characters its been using in all its games since day one. Evidently Mark Rein and Cliffy the boy wonder simply HAVE to put their signature on everything within their domain and that includes their absolute certainty thaqt everyone loves "badass" characters even though its so fucking cliche at this point that you'd think it was satire.

Again, PCF could've done a good job but when you see the Epic name on the box you should expect the same childish shit you get with all their games.

While there's some fun moments, the game is too tightly controlled and linear to be a spiritual successor to Painkiller. Perhaps if Epic had let PCF do their own thing we would have a much better game but Epic simply overproduced the shit out of this thing to the point that they might as well have made a lightgun game. Some of the dialogue is quite funny and there's a spot of brilliance when you get the the level where you take control of a rather cool toy but other than that its more a rental than a keeper.

I miss the ability of being able to blast through terrain features a-la RF1. The structure demolition is certainly fun but it sort of breaks the immersion when you can destroy massive buildings yet your weapons have zero effect on the rock/ground right next to it.
