We sprang forward over a month ago, tomorrow night we celebrate Guy Fawkes with fireworks. The public display is set off from a pier on the beach, people descend on the place to let their own fireworks off then watch the big show. Before the earthquakes I was cynical of public money spent on such things, now it feels good to have most of the city together. It will mark the three year anniversary since the earthquakes kicked off starting what turned out to be an 18 month surreal rollercoaster. At events like this the normality of it is reasuring & have noticed people are more patient with each other, something goes unsaid between adults & everyone is grateful the kids are having a good time. We are at the start of rebuilding a completely new city, it will take the good part of 15-20 years.
