This is a really solid move forward for the digital marketplace in general and I have to give EA credit for doing something decent for consumers. Part of the frustration with digital offerings is the inflexible return policy. This costs EA little, most of their games are pushed quickly toward DLC after release and the initial price is dropped to help sell that DLC. It gives them a big PR win and consumers get the ability to return a lemon or disappointing product. Most games I can tell in the first day or two of play so makes sense to me.
