I'm not sure what that short article had to do with the software side of things. It sounded more like someone who is/was rabidly free-speech coming to the realization that its okay to censor people on websites. Not a particularly astounding insight. But I guess there are a lot of people who feel free-speech extends to everything, and while I prefer for sites to err on the side of letting people speak their mind, there are limits. To put it succinctly some people are just bastards and actively try to destroy any meaningful discourse.
And to be clear I'm not referring to government limiting free speech. That's another issue from people moderating their own websites.
