Verno, you make it sound like you never eat at any fast food places. Do you really find all fast food unappealing? While I certainly don't eat at them often any longer. It isn't because I think all the food is horrid -- although I'll agree some of it is pretty bad. For me it's more of a, "I have enough problems keeping my salt and fat intake down.." issue.

I take our daughter to McDonalds once in awhile because she loves it but generally speaking I do not eat at fast food places, no. If I'm going to have the calories and salt, I might as well do it at a real restaurant to get quality food and often the meal doesn't take much longer anyway. Fast food is also getting fairly pricey these days for what amounts to deep fried processed crap and junk ingredients.

Nothing food snob about it BTW, it's just sensible eating for your enjoyment and long term well being If fast food was a good value for body/money and tasted good I'd do it all the time.

I also love cooking and appreciate the work that goes into a real meal

Well, that is kind of food snob.
I'll admit to being a food snob. I have no issue with fat and salt - hell yesterday I baked peanut butter and jelly blondies, which are like half butter and light brown sugar, and the other day I went out and ordered beef wellington, which is basically wrapped in butter and fat, but I am fortunate enough to pick and choose good fatty things.

Fast food is not satisfying to me. Good burders taste like burgers. Fast food tastes like condiments and oils.

On that note, I also won't bake anything out of a box. Man, after learning how easy it is to make a real cake out of flour and sugar I'll never go back to the boxed stuff. I've moved one step past my parents, now, who would do boxed cakes but never, ever boxed icings.
