Couple that with how much of a failure and all the associated costs - monetarily as well as human - of the US 'War on Drugs' to the almost outright wars that have been going on in Mexico, central and south America. We know for an absolute certainty that prohibition does not work. Take all the money wasted on that and use it to combat poverty and then you'll see real positive effects.
We've already spent $16 trillion on the "war on poverty" and things have only gotten worse. But keep on dreamin!
