No, you totally miss the point. People don't just want change or innovation that is good for microsoft, if they're giving up the old then the new better be worth it. When the new is a half cocked copy paste of competitor interfaces then people rightfully criticize the attempt to hardsell them the same thing with a new coat of paint. A 'better' start menu and an app system that is mainly microsoft playing catch up doesn't exactly get my juices flowing to run out and upgrade. Also I don't see any evidence that Windows 8 is pacing Windows 7, Microsoft is eerily quiet about the sales numbers now that the $15 bonanza is over.
