There are different levels of DRM interference.
We've had this discussion before - people are OK with Steam because it doesn't really intrude or prevent you from playing and it comes with benefits that make dealing with the barely-noticeable DRM worthwhile.
SimCity will kick you to the title screen if there's a hiccup in your internet connection. The benefits it offers, mostly social, seem worthless to the group here and, honestly, could be done easily without this DRM (though I suppose that's true for many of the Steam advantages, too.)
They're the same in concept but nowhere near in execution.
