You can't solve every societal problem with a platitude about hard work, sorry, we're talking about things that go beyond individual effort and gumption. I'm probably more right leaning than you are and definitely not a bleeding heart, I just recognize we're a varied society in many ways including race. If we don't take care to recognize and understand circumstances affecting others and continue with the deceit that paranoid, self-interested capitalism and "hard work" is all that matters then we're going to continue ending up on the sidelines watching others govern.
