As cool as the theme of I76 was, I never got into the gameplay. It was just dogfighting on one plane. A good WWI or WWII sim had similar gameplay but in three dimensions. I76 was just too much circling, braking, firing.

Yeah, it wasn't as deep as a sim, but you did have objects to hide behind and stuff, so in that respect it's different from a flight sim. But the fun part was also the part I liked best about Mechwarrior: configuring your vehicle and tweaking it exactly how you wanted, then trying that config in the field.

Also, we've had SO MANY WWII sims, but very few vehicle fighting games.
