If you're going to create a game under an established franchise, you need to respect the core pillars of that franchise. If you're making a game that offers none of what players enjoyed about the series, why bother making it part of that series? If you really, really want to do that, at least call it a spin-off rather than a reboot. People are generally more forgiving of crappy spin-offs than crappy reboots.
For example, if Activision announced that the next CoD would be a reboot and that the game will be a kart racer, there would be tons of angry fans and justifiably so. Kart racing has nothing to do with shooting people and shooting people is what people enjoyed doing in the previous games. |
