I run both Windows 7 and Windows 8, find very little difference between them in just about any respect and most benchmarks bear that out. For $15-40 most people won't care but those prices go up in less than a month and that's going to make upgrading even more dubious. Windows phone is just a meh platform overall so far, mostly unimpressive hardware, app selection isn't great, it doesn't do anything better than Android and is less customizable. They're going to need to do better in both respects going forward, just playing catch up with everyone else isn't working.
