I've got to disagree with you there, unlike Uplay, Origin and GFWL don't feature always online DRM nonsense.
I was speaking of Uplay as the digital service. Ubisoft has moved to one-time online activation only for *some* games, and Assassin's Creed 3 and Far Cry 3 both have working offline modes, which is a HUGE improvement over their constant always-online garbage of the past. But yeah, there probably remains several games which still have an always-online requirement.
