I don't mind the concept of DOF in principle but the implementation in FC3 and BL2 is too extreme.
That is just fucking TERRIBLE. It literally looks like the graphics card is overheating or is just plain broken. How do you ship this shit as a dev? How do your artists accept this? You do all that work to create really cool looking scenes and artwork, and then some hack creates this ugly-as-shit filter that blurs 75% of it. I would fucking gut somebody.
