They are seriously programming in 64 bit? I kinda doubt that.
On a 64bit OS a 32bit binary can access up to 4GB of RAM. Throw in OS overhead and 8GB makes a lot of sense if you intend to fully utilize that 4GB.

Yeah, many have claimed that, yet I have never seen it in a game.
