34. I read this... Apr 16, 2003, 15:21 anon@127.0.0.1

But id could pocket some cash from Microsoft. Redmond keeps calling, trying to convince the company to release a version of Doom III for the Xbox: "We're being offered a pretty significant amount of money to sit on it until an Xbox port is done," says Carmack. id hasn't announced a decision yet.

Which if I interpret correctly, means that Microsoft not only wants an exclusive port for the XBox, but they don't want the PC version of D3 released until the XBox port is ready to go.

Presumably Microsoft figures that a lot of gamers are waiting to see what the system requirement for D3 are before they do any major upgrades. If the XBox version is ready at the same time, those gamers might just decide to buy an XBox instead of shelling out the cash for a new video card/processor/memory/whatever.

I don't care though. I've already paid for my copy of D3 and I want it now! Now, now, NOW!

Oh wait... we're supposed to be laying off the juvenile stuff, aren't we?
