You can't install metro apps at all without making a microsoft account (or whatever they are calling it this week). Most of the official apps are completely neutered without signing in to it as well. There are no known methods of sideloading Metro apps either. Not that it really matters, most of the apps are either popular ones people have elsewhere or mediocre. I think the best way to treat Windows 8 is acting like Metro doesn't exist by disabling it with third party software, it offers nothing to a desktop user.
