3 years past due? Not yet. The last few iterations have been just as long.

PSX - 1994
PS2 - 2000
PS3 - 2006

Some of the console defining games for PS2 and PSX were released at or after the release date of the next console. Currently on track for a 2014 release for PS4/Xbox720, so you're looking at 2 years longer than the average cycle, not already 3 years past due.
