But I think several of the older posters here have reached the point that they no longer feel like spending energy complaining and instead have looked for the good out there. And there's still good to be found. As you mentioned, NV and DX:HR are fantastic games that may be different than their predecessors, and may play differently, but are ridiculously well made, fun games.
