11. Re: Elemental: Fallen Enchantress This Month Oct 10, 2012, 12:04 draginol

I can relate. I'm supposed to be working on the AI. And yet...XCOMM.

I suggested in a meeting the other day just waiting until January but I barely escaped alive.

But this is a 4X game. Their release dates don't matter as much as event games. You could release one in the dead of Summer and it wouldn't matter.

The team's anxious to work on the expansions.

I wish I could take credit for the quality of Fallen Enchantress. Derek (Kael) and the GalCiv II team really delivered. Hopefully its quality combined with the hundred thousand or so people who get it free (anyone who bought the original Elemental in 2010) will restore some of the lost faith people had in us.

We deserved the black eye we got with that. It's not widely known but Stardock is about a 50 person company total. That includes everyone working on Fences, Start8, WindowBlinds, ObjectDock, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, Unnannounced PC game, Object Desktop, our IT staff, QA, support, the mobile games in progress, and on and on.

You get a few successes under your belt on the games side (GalCiv, Sins, etc.) and it's easy to think that nothing can go wrong. That's why WOM was such a wake up call. It was time to bring in the pros (Derek Paxton and Jon Shafer) to rethink how the games are made (we also brought in the former SVP of Compuware to take over BizDev which handles marketing).

Sins Rebellion was the first game released under that process. Fallen Enchantress will be the second.
