I've never understood where people think this argument line is going to get them. You've got one group of people who face prejudice on a regular basis, and you've got another group that doesn't. So because the one group wants to create a situation where they aren't going to be harrassed, the other group suddenly needs their own event too? Why? Your "explicity straight" group wasn't being harrassed in the first place. What exactly is your group supposed to be for?
The people here want to create an event where people don't insult them/look down at them, etc, simply because of their sexual orientation. People already don't look down on your "straight white men" because of their sexual orientation. The idea that there's some sort of equivalence between the two groups is ludicrous.
You're like the little kid who's crying to his parents that they have a Mother's Day and a Father's Day, but no kids' day. |
