Can we refer to this as a "WoW Syndrome"? As I've posted here before with D3... people just can't play games with RNG loot anymore and feel satisfied.

It really depends on what is dropping. I don't care if its green or purple as long as its useful and when you RNG "87 bazillion guns" then you end up with a lot of worthless horseshit as you said. Torchlight has RNG loot and it's pretty effective and fun, it's all about implementation.
