Interesting. Guess they ran out of capital.

They did a lot right, including all the partnerships they got (putting them on TVs was somewhat brilliant.)

Which means the failure was either:
1) Timing (too soon for the idea)
2) Idea (just not a good idea)
3) Operations (business not run by right people)

I don't see anyone else jumping into this right away, given how successful the bizdev was for these guys.

I don’t like seeing ‘anyone’ lose their jobs, especially in today’s economy.

I wasn't sold on the idea and didn't care for it all; however, the business model was 'somewhat' viable with most everything going digital/online/streaming in today’s market. So, I’d second one of your bullet points of “Bad Timing”; and potentially “Operations (business not run by right people)” too.

I don't see any evidence of it being the wrong people. I also don't see any evidence of it being the right people, but they did some good marketing and some good business development, so I'd give the benefit of the doubt and say it's entirely due to the timing (too soon for the tech) or the idea (a dedicated standalone for old PC games isn't worthwhile.)

I wouldn't say streaming was the issue, as we'll all be on it eventually. Just a question of whether that's 5 years or 25 years.
