And that's where most people would fail. They could not properly assess the situation under stress, so they would likely fire at somebody else (especially if theses guys are ALSO armed!!! and therefore possible threats), and off goes the chain reaction leading to chaos and mayhem. More guns in the hands of "regular" people are no solution to the threat of crime, they are a threat on their own. It just doesn't work.

If there were 10 armed citizens in there, I bet not ONE of them wold realize the other 9 were there. You have never been in a stressful/heightened situation. You tunnel, they would have eliminated the threat and a lot less people would have died. They all would have focused on 1 thing - the crazy man shooting people.
