It may have had that but it didn't feel that way to me. I only played through once though so I didn't really have an opportunity to switch it up. Could you skip areas too? I wouldn't've noticed because I'm obsessive about exploring everything.

You couldn't skip hubs, if that's what you mean. There were lots of optional rooms with loot and lore stuff though. You could also go back to previous hubs if you wanted.

Yeah no, Bioshock was linear. Major let down for me. I still can't get past the part when my char will chug down two whiskey bottles he finds in a trash can without even asking about it.
