Blood in the stool isn't good, but it's not usually life-threatening unless you let it go. Take them in right away. My Corgi gets stomach infections that make his poo all liquid and it contains enough blood to make it look like he is dying. The biggest danger, however, is dehydration. As long as we catch it quick, it's easy to give him pills and fix it. If we miss it when it happens (like he doesn't have an accident and goes outside) the first few times, it requires a fluid injection over his shoulders, and sometimes a short hospital stay.
