24. Re: You can't buy DLC on Steam without the base game. Jul 21, 2012, 23:24 Dev

I have never complained when people don't agree with my opinion of Amazon. What I have complained about is hypocrites who complain that I have a positive opinion of Amazon and post it here.
I suppose you didn't notice that post where I said you might just be posting about amazon because you use it and like it. But when you attack others, it makes me wonder.

Heck, I've posted sales from amazon before. IMHO, people should have an opportunity to know know where the best prices are, and decide on wtf ever factors they want. For instance, for me, the fact that something is on steam is an important factor to me, so I look for amazon sales that give you steam codes.

"Pimp" steam? lol.
You advertise for Steam on Blue's a lot. I personally don't care that you do. You should be more accurate when you do though.
"Advertise"? Huh? I mention steam sales primarily in the on sale threads, because thats where its on topic. And generally only if blue doesn't already link it. Not sure how that's advertising. I also mention EA sales if they have good ones (which is rare) or amazon sales, or GMG or GoG sales, or whatever.

Man, if only I DID get paid to advertise that stuff.

My goal is to help inform people so they can make an informed decision when they buy. I'm a bit of a cheapskate and I like to pay the lowest prices on stuff, and I figure there's probably other people out there who like to save money. Like when I repeatedly posted about waiting to get ARMA 2 on steam until the last day of the steam sales to see if it went on sale (which it did btw, today in fact). I hope some people saved some money by doing that. Going by the top selling charts on steam during the sale, a lot of people didn't do that, and missed out on saving some money. But hey, its their money. If they want to waste it by not waiting a couple days, its totally up to them.
Incidentally, if I was "pimping" for valve/steam, I would have ENCOURAGED people to run out and waste money on buying ARMA 2 when it was on a crappy 20% sale.

And I already apologized for making a mistake about the batman DLC. I'm human, I'm not 100% perfect or right all the time. I try and admit when I make mistakes.

I think Dev is like me - Steam is our platform of choice.
Exactly correct. And thats DESPITE the failings and rough edges of steam. Because even with those, I can still play my games, when I want to, how I want to, without much getting in my way, and in a convenient fashion. And any time I have to deal with something else like GfWL, it reminds me of why I prefer steam, because it DOES get in the way of me playing games, every game I run with it makes me spend HOURS trying to get it to get out of my freaking way and let me play what I PAID FOR.

EA had a great opportunity to do valve one better and release a feature impressive polished client with origin. They would have been working uphill with me personally because of my existing 500+ game library on steam. But they didn't even bother to spend a little money and time in doing that. It wouldn't have taken much, valve has left so many things minimally done in steam, or not done at all. But Origin doesn't have any strong draws over steam. In fact, its worse in some ways.

I've tried most platforms, and despite its rough edges, steam still seems to be one of the best. And despite valve's mis-steps and occasional broken promises, I still trust them more than I do any other publisher in the industry. For me, thats based on track records of how often they screw over customers. Valve has a comparatively low frequency history of that compared to oh say EA.

I most certainty do. I shop there all the time (I wear my prime membership the fuck OUT, just ask the UPS guy).
Heheh, or ask amazon how much money they lose on shipping you stuff? I have a prime trial, and it sure is handy buying something like the recent tire pressure gauge with integrated tread depth meter for $6 with free 2 day shipping. I probably wouldn't have if they charged another $5+ in shipping.
Or when I purchase like 5 things in a day and they send FIVE SEPARATE packages to me.
