Yeh. The news story made me think... as it is I don't know how much I would pay attention to the grill after doing a quick cleanup job... so what are the chances that a newbie cook at a restaurant would.

They've been used for years/decades/whatever though I'd never heard a story about it until last month. Perhaps this is a case of "they don't make them like they used to?"

After all, the news stations have ALWAYS loved shocking local news.
