They easily could/should lessen the tier divergence (closer to 2-3 max), those matches always seem best to me teamwise anyway. Also, it's not beyond programmers to matchmake based on real skills, player profiles can maintain plenty of gameplay data that can serve this well.
Making people feel "underpowered" in matches provides a mental "incentive" for people to pay for boosters, tanks, gold rounds. Online games playing to people's insecurities seems to be an accepted practice, refined in mmorts's.
I wished they would just focus on making the most amazing game and hiring the most amazing talent, but they play some pyschological games too.
Where the game really gets you after that is, getting to the higher tier turns out to not be necessarily better afterall, for many.
In the early levels that gap gets progressively worse. |
