How is this Chafee's fault?

The storm began nearly two years ago, when the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, under political pressure from former Republican Governor Donald Carcieri, gave 38 Studios $75 million in loan guarantees as an incentive to relocate from Massachusetts to Rhode Island....

The loan was not popular with taxpayers. A poll done in September 2010 by CBS affiliate WPRI-TV found 54% of Rhode Islanders opposed the loan, versus 28% in favor. All candidates in the 2010 governor's election publicly opposed the deal, including current Governor Lincoln Chafee.

Chafee not only didn't hold anything up, he tried to save them. Curt is just deflecting for legal reasons, but the reality is that the buck stops with him. He chose the team, he OK'd everything, he's responsible. And leaving the employees hanging for his bad choices is wholly unacceptable, it's not like he doesn't have the money to pay them, and they need it a damn sight more than he does.

That's certainly what he says. Being a politician, I'm not sure why you'd buy his line of shit. He promised to bring 38 Studios down when he took office. Shockingly, a politician actually kept his promise. Too bad it fucked over his taxpayers.

The loan certainly was not popular, no doubt about that. And no doubt, Curt should never have taken it. No denying he messed up there. However, withholding the rest of the loan and badmouthing the company assured that 38 would go down.
