Blizzard is a bad example - they are still around today for D2. The level of support they've given it, and the longevity they've allowed for it are exceptional.

Contrast that with the number of servers that, say, EA shuts down on a regular basis. If you want to play the new SimCity, how long will those servers be up before EA decides to close them down to force people to buy the next one? Ditto with the Activision side of Activision/Blizzard. Same with Ubisoft, how long will they be running the older game servers?
