Well Skyrim is a pure action rpg if we are pedantic. 90% of the game is fighting or running around to get to a fight. What little dialog there is, is just monologues mostly.
And why should a games combat not be skill dependent? Thats the whole point of games, skill based challenges. Player skill should be the paramount factor in a game, experience of character just unlocks more abilities (and NOT specific stats).
It seems to me you agree on the notion that the combat sucks but disagree on the specific solutions i want. If so I'd be honestly curious how you would fix Skyrim combat. I could even get behind mages should be 100% magic - but whats to stop a mage from creating pure magic weapons and throw them around like chakrams with homing mode? And staff's in amalur are denial of area weapons. (Which only works so-so, but is a decent idea nontheless) |
