BTW: was not legit in wow ether, my mate got banned for "cornering the market" believe it or not

Nah, it was absolutely legit in WoW, a bunch of us helped a guy in our guild hit the gold cap doing it even. We made sure to ask some GMs first even. He got reported all the time by competition and people angry about prices, nothing ever happened.
