I still think these companies would have a lot better results and a lot less negative press if they settled for the cost of the software as well as a reasonable punitive fine to not exceed what the software was sold for. So in essence $120 fine for a $60 title.

Think of it this way. If I get pulled over doing 100mph in a 60mph zone I'll likely get a fine around $120. However unlike downloading a game, I've actually put myself and innocent peoples lives at risk.

The whole IP witch hunt and copyright enforcement is absurd because of the ludicrous sums of money they're trying to bleed out of people.
