What games are currently released that require Origin on PC?
The 4M number can't be all BF3 preorders because there aren't that many across all platforms let alone PC and a preorder doesn't have to mean they installed the client anyway.
So we're left with other games that require Origin (I admit I have no idea what these are) and games that optionally use Origin that prompted the user to willingly install Origin. You don't think 4M installs in 3 months for a service that most people don't want is unusually high?
I'm going to guess that a lot of that is TOR traffic. If you ordered through EA, you needed an origin account. And even if you didn't, everyone that preordered got an early access code, and I think you needed an origin account to register that.
