Sorry to hear it Batman, unfortunately you'll find that's largely the case with everything. I had an Onkyo receiver's HDMI chipset die in the first year of ownership, it took almost a week to get a call back from Onkyo and I ended up fixing it myself for $30. My friends Yamaha receiver died last week, no sound in some audio outputs for no apparent reason. Some models of Denon receivers are notorious for having issues over the past couple of years.

All you can really do is protect yourself with warranties. It's why I still buy a lot of things from Sears, unlike Amazon they typically will stand behind their products in the long term and often times have their own in-house repair people or be able to put you in touch with someone.
