Good deal of content for the money, which is ironic, because it didn't really have more content than most shooters... Just encouraged you to go through it slower. Uh, most shooters don't let you talk to NPCs or even interact with them in any meaningful fashion. Or use stealth as a viable gameplay mechanic. Or progress through open-ended levels in any manner of ways. Or read newspapers, eBooks, e-mails, etc. Or do side-quests with branching paths and moral choices.
Saying that DX:HR doesn't have more content than most shooters is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. As for the story, I thought it was great. They put a ton of detail into the backstory and I loved learning all of it. It really helped flesh out the game world, as well as provide clues towards the numerous plot twists and links to the original DX. The fact that you were fucked over in the third boss fight by a choice you made hours before makes it pretty clear that you weren't really paying attention to the details, as you would have otherwise made a different choice. |
