3. Re: Mass Effect 2 Arrival Arrives Mar 30, 2011, 13:04 Creston
I liked it well enough. It is a bit short (took me about 2.5 hours on Insanity), I'd have liked to have seen an extra level in it, but the three levels are very involved and feature quite a few really cool set pieces.

Plus I liked the story quite a bit. It's suitably epic, and has an excellent final battle (even if it is frustratingly difficult.) I think it's well worth 7 bucks.

One thing I've been thinking about though (spoilers):
The Doc (Amanda whatsherface) states that if you blow up the Mass Effect gate, the Reapers will still arrive in the system, but then have to FTL their way to the next system. They won't be able to use the gates to get to wherever they want to go, and so by doing so you'll be able to delay them for months or years.

However, at the end of ME2, you see the Reapers moving towards the Milky Way. Off hand, they seem to be pretty damn far away, as the Milky Way is quite small in the vision you see. So... what, 20, 30000 lightyears or so? And yet they apparently get to the Milky Way in the space of a few years at most, since they wouldn't have just flown there under their own power until Saren's plan in ME1 failed.)

So if they can fly 30K lightyears in a few years, somehow I doubt that blowing up that particular gate is really going to delay them all that much... Seemed a bit of a weak contrivance to force you to blow up the gate.
